Ryan Reiss - 2013 World Champion of Poker

The 23 year old professional poker player from Michigan took down the most coveted prize in poker, the World Series of Poker main event, for a whopping $8.3 million.

Editor's Note: Reiss was never in jeopardy at the final table, had 4 knockouts and, heads-up against Jay Farber, he was absolutely dominant.

"The first time I walked into Binion’s in 2003, I took one look around the room at the cast of characters and realized this job was going to be everything I'd ever dreamt of. I swear, I asked myself, 'Where has this been all my life?' Then, after I watched the first show before it aired, I was so impressed at the gritty, real-life gambling feel these new producers had given it, it was just unbelievable.”

- Norman Chad, on living the poker dream.

Millionaire Maker is Born

The 44th annual World Series of Poker marked the debut of the Millionaire Maker, a $1,500 buy-in tournament with two starting flights that allowed players a single re-entry. Canadian Benny Chen won more than $1 million for first.

Poker for Charity

The World Series of Poker continued on with its relationship from 2012 with the One Drop Foundation, a charity founded by Cirque de Soleil founder Guy Laliberté devoted to providing safe water supplies in developing countries. The 2012 edition featured a $1 million buy-in but that was reduced to $111,111 for the One Drop High Roller in 2013. The Rio donated 3% of the rake. There was also the 'Little One for One Drop,' a $1,111 buy-in plus rebuys with $111 from each going to Laliberte's foundation.
